A Perfect 5

We are happy to report that Facebook's new algorithm for reviews (or recommendations as they're currently referring to them) has been adjusted and we are back to 5/5 based on 560 reviews.  On Google, we also rate 5/5 with 446 records.  As usual, Yelp is far behind in the number of reviews (only two of the 57 posted are considered "recommended"), but we still hold a 5/5 rating there as well.

With so much volume teaching American Heart Association classes and many reviews spanning 15+ years, it can literally take hundreds of positive reviews to make the slightest move...for example, to just creep from 4.8 to 4.9.  To average a perfect 5 is a testament to the dedication to excellence that our team of instructors bring to each and every class; our office staff begins and finishes the experience for the customer by providing customer service unequaled by anyone in the industry.

We appreciate our customers who have come to expect nothing but the best from Heartland CPR, have told their friends about us, and reviewed or recommended us online so others can find us.  To these loyal customers, we offer discounts for referrals, multi-class customers, Fire/Police/EMS personnel, as well as members of our military.  Thank you for placing your trust in us.  Together, we can save Oklahoma!

Thankgiving Thankfulness (November 2018)

During this season of thanksgiving,, we are especially thankful for our loyal customers and grateful for a team that  represents us so well.  In October, Heartland CPRcelebrated 15 years in business and we were honored to share the celebration with a few special customers that go back many, many years and have been witness to our growth over the years.

Since 2003, Heartland CPR, llc (formerly Custom Training Solutions) has been providing AHAtraining in CPR, AEDuse, First Aid, BLS (Basic Life Support) ProviderACLS(Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and PALS(Pediatric Advanced Life Support). At the request of our customers, in 2013, we began selling several affordable, quality brands of AEDs and accessories as well as adding a variety of well-stocked first aid kits and emergency supplies;. In 2014, we introduced our “STAT Program”, allowing healthcare professionals to obtain or renew certification in multiple disciplines in a couple of days using sequential scheduling, discount packages, and by partnering with a nearby luxury hotel that offers a corporate rate to our customers, and we added “The PET (Pet Emergency Training) Project”to our class lineup.  We began 2015 in a new suite decorated like an antique medical museum with a full-time office staff assisting our customers during 10-4 business hours in addition to our team of instructors teaching varied shifts virtually 24/7; additionally we began offering a free First Aid + CPR class using our equipment and expertise to teach life-saving skills to those wishing to learn for their own peace of mind but not in need of an official, costly AHA certification.  We volunteered to be first in this region when AHA introduced the option for e-cards in early 2018, eliminating lost/damaged cards which are costly to replace. We firmly believe that doing what everyone else does gets you what everyone else gets, so we set out from the beginning and continue to do things differently than the rest…from straight-forward, all-inclusive pricing and issuing immediate certifications to how we go about selecting the instructors that represent us.

What began as a small home business with husband and wife instructors is now a registered, small woman-owned business with an A+rating which has been recognized by the BBBas the 2014 Torch Awardwinner for the small business category in the OKC area and has received multiple “Best of OKC”awards”. We have hundreds of positive reviews on virtually every online forum and social media platform averaging 4.9 or better across all channels.  Heartland CPR’s owner, Ginger Davis, participated in the SBA’s “Emerging Leaders”program alongside the best and brightest CEOs in the state of Oklahoma, while Brian Davis was recognized as a “Dinosaur of EMS” for his longevity in emergency medicine, having served in virtually every capacity and agency in the OKC metro EMS system during his 30+ year career.  We continue to add outstanding instructors to our team based on character traits that embody Heartland CPR’s mission and vision; we are proud to retain some of the most respected professionals in their fields who have been saving lives for decades and together boast of combined training and instruction expertise of over 90 years!

We invite you to visit our website www.HeartlandCPR.comto learn more, contact us to schedule the next training session for your group or inquire about adding a life-saving AED to your business, church, club, organization, or home. We sincerely appreciate the trust you’ve placed in us, and thank you for your continued support!  It has been our sincere pleasure to be your choice for American Heart Associationrelated training. Whether we provide training at your location or you refer individuals to classes held at ours, please know that you have played a part in our growth and success. There is perhaps no better time to say a heartfelt “thank you” to each of you than during this holiday season as we reflect on the blessings we have been entrusted with.

Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous year ahead,

Full Circle

Any of you that have been in one of Brian's ACLS classes, he usually says something like "I don't want you to just memorize this stuff, I really want you to understand it...because you might be my nurse (or doctor or EMS crew) someday".  Well, as of September 2018, now we can say that has actually happened!

In Brian's own words: "It only took 15 years but it finally happened.  Couple of weeks ago I was admitted to Integris Edmond with chest pain.  Kristi M, RN was not only my fantastic nurse but also a longtime customer.  This is why in every class I've said I want you to know ACLS as one day I may be your patient.  Thank you to Kristi and Integris Edmond!"

When Kristi recognized us as the "CPR people", she had glowing feedback to share.  She said that she has taken her AHA certification classes with us for many years because she loves our low-key, non-stressful method of teaching complex curriculum.  With multiple learning disabilities, she'd rather pay out of pocket to get the experience we offer than take it somewhere her employer will pick up the tab.  She refers fellow nurses and friends as well...and has been a vocal advocate for Heartland CPR for many years.  This, folks, is why we do what we do!

Do you feel like you need additional education to be ready for ACLS or PALS?

At the request of several customers, we have developed a class for that!  Our instructor breaks it down in an easy-to-understand manner like they are known for.  Take advantage of this rare opportunity to get off on the right foot!  This class is especially suited to those who are now being required to take ACLS and/or PALS but don’t have the background or education basis to build upon really needed for those classes such as dental assistantshygienists, EMTs, or those just entering the field and wanting to gain confidence before jumping into those advanced disciplines.

We will spend time devoted to identification or rhythms and the pharmacology of cardiac drugs. Taken before ACLS or PALS Provider classes, this course positions those who feel weak in those common areas of concern to feel confident alongside others in the field and other participants at ACLS and PALS training. We have developed written material for participants which will not only be beneficial for this class but also for eventual ACLS/PALS training as well as future reference…an added bonus is that you’ll enjoy 10% off your additional classes with us.  Don't miss out on this rare opportunity!

Look for the next PREP for ACLS & PALS class on our schedule.  Register today!

AEDs Are More Accessible Than Ever Before

It's so exciting to be a witness to something as potentially life-changing...make that life-saving...as AEDs go from being available only in healthcare settings to being available in schools, shopping malls, factories, businesses, even in homes.  The past decade and a half in business have given us a front row seat to watch the availability of life-saving technology explode.  With increased activity, AEDs have become surprisingly affordable; several quality units are available for under $1300!

Automated External Defibrillators, or AEDs as they are commonly known, are as simple to use as a fire extinguisher and have features that only allow someone in need of a shock to receive one.  A delay of just minutes can make the difference between life and death when the victim of cardiac arrest is in need of a shock from a defibrillator.

Did you know...

Several years ago, at our customers' requests, we entered into the AED market.  We don't aggressively try to sell or even have a salesman that calls on businesses, in fact.  We are a distributor for several quality brands and simply have the ability to supply the needs of our customers that wish to invest in a life-saving device...and can do so at much better pricing than can be found online or locally.  As our customer, once you purchase an AED from us, you get 10% off your training needs going forward.  You can feel secure that your staff, club, organization, or family is trained and prepared to act in an emergency.  Now that's a win-win!

For more information or AED pricing, don't hesitate to reach out and we can provide information, answer questions, and get your business or home well-equipped for less.

Flashback: License Saver, Heartland CPR Delivers for Nurses (Oklahoma's Nursing Times May 2018)

Fun Fact: When learning CPR, Chuck Norris brought the dummy back to life.
Heartland CPR owner Ginger Davis says the sign in the back of the room at her Northwest Oklahoma City office always draws a laugh.  It’s just one of the ice breakers Davis and her staff use to help medical professionals feel at ease when it comes to renewing certifications that mean the difference between earning a paycheck or sitting at home.  Her son, Devin, says Heartland has a large following of nurses who enjoy the fact the company works around their schedule.

Heartland offers American Heart Association (AHA) certified BLS, ACLS, PALS and Heartsaver CPR, First Aid and AED training in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and throughout the state of Oklahoma. By limiting class sizes, minimizing test anxiety, and taking every opportunity to exceed the expectations of customers, Heartland CPR engages participants with a fresh approach to training. It’s why the business has such a huge following in the medical field and a high return rate. Referral discounts are offered.

Flexibility has always been the cornerstone of Heartland’s business model. One in-demand course is the S.T.A.T. program which stands for Sequentially Timed Accelerated Training. Nurses can renew the entire BLS, ACLS and PALS certification suite in a weekend.

Despite the demand, classes sizes are limited to remain small.  It’s a Heartland tenet to ensure the quality of the training and the ability for students to ask questions and truly grasp the material.

Heartland was an early adopter of the new voice mannikin technology as well. “It’s been a massive improvement as far as the compressions go,” Devin Davis said. “It helps them correct themselves on what they need to improve on. It’s pretty effective to make sure people are getting the correct feedback.”

Ginger Davis counts five firefighters, four paramedics, two first responders to the OKC bombing, an EMS chief and an EMS sergeant among her instructors. “I think our experience base is pretty impressive,” Davis said. “It’s pretty impressive when you put it all together and look at all the experience combined.”

A minimum class size of six participants applies to all training at customer locations within the OKC metro area; other minimums may be negotiated for customer locations statewide. Don’t have 6? Then Heartland can combine you or your group with another small class with flexible scheduling. Emergency & individual classes are available as well.

The company has also expanded into AED equipment sales. Heartland is now able to equip customers with a variety of quality AEDs from trusted manufacturers at pricing that can’t be touched even by online distributors. Discounts are also offered when you package your AED purchase and training.

DNR “Do Not Resuscitate”

 DNR “Do Not Resuscitate”

“Do not resuscitate” or, attempt rescuscitation includes the administration or CPR or other life-saving measures are often the final wishes of individuals. . There are people that do not want CPR administered if they go into cardiac arrest. You may come across such a person.  This can be tricky situation for some because what do you do if the victim has medical identification jewelry or wallet cards stating that the victim doesn’t want CPR and a relative is asking you to “do something to save them!”  As a bystander, use your discretion of how you handle this situation; when working as a medical professional, there are guidelines and requirements that direct your actions.  In resent years EMSA and other emergency response agencies nationwide have been directed to preform CPR on the DNR victim unless they have the proper paperwork readily available to abide by the victims request. If you are unsure what to do, always call 911!
